The majority of the transactions in which ASA Consultants is involved remain undisclosed; however, some of the publicized deals of the past few years have included the privatization of Mr. Berlusconi’s Italian television network Mediaset, the re-capitalization of Banca di Roma (now Capitalia) in Italy, the acquisition of Credit Libanais in Beirut and the capital restructuring of the Housing Bank for Trade & Finance in Jordan. More recently, ASA Consultants acted on behalf of ABN-Amro Bank with regard to the sale of their Bahrain banking operations to BankMuscat.

Abdulla A. Saudi
CHAIRMANSince June, 1994 Mr. Saudi is leading his own venture ASA Consultants, an investment and finance consultancy as well as heads Capital Investment Holding Co., B.S.C, from Bahrain and sits on the boards of several leading Arab institutions in the region.
Abdulla A. Saudi was born in Tripoli, Libya on March 20, 1937. He stepped into the banking career in 1958 by joining the Central Bank of Libya. Beginning of 1972 he established Libyan Arab Foreign Bank in Tripoli, and headed it as Chairman & General Manager. In early 1980 he founded Arab Banking Corporation (ABC), his “bank of the banks,” in Bahrain and leaded it as Deputy Chairman, Founding President & Chief Executive until 1994, placing the institution as one of the largest Arab international banks in the world.
In early 70s until mid 90’s he guided the boards of several international financial institutions in his capacity as Chairman and/or Director; such as UBAF Bank Ltd., UK, UBAE Arab Italian Bank, Italy, UBAN Arab Japanese Finance Ltd., Hong Kong, Banco Arab Espanol, Spain, UBAF Arab American Bank, USA, Fiat S.p.A., Italy, Arab Insurance Group, Bahrain, Institute of International Finance Inc., Washington D.C., ABC-Daus & Co. GmbH, Germany, Banco Atlantico S.A., Spain, Arlabank International E.C., Bahrain, Banatlantico Zurich AG, Switzerland, ABC Investment & Services Co. E.C., Bahrain, ABC International Bank Plc, U.K. and IVECO Netherlands.
Mr. Saudi also enjoys very high profile advisory positions with HRH Prince Talal Bin Abdul Aziz and Credit Libanais Bank in Lebanon.
His worldwide contributions in the financial markets earned him several awards and honours e.g., The Great Cross of the Civil Merit, granted by His Majesty The King of Spain. He was decorated with The President’s Gold Medal, by the President of Italy. The International Herald Tribune & European Management Forum awarded him as The Most Innovative Banker of the Year. The Board of Editors of Institutional Investor, USA also honoured him as The Banker of the year 1981. Banking Achievement award for “Distinguished Lifetime Achievements & Pioneering Contributions to Banking.”, was granted to him by The Arab Bankers Association of North America, USA. H.E. the President of the Republic of Tunisia decorated him with The Grand Medal of the Republic of Tunis. Union of Arab Banks presented him The Banker of the Arab World award.
Adel A. Saudi, Partner of ASA Consultants, born in Tripoli, Libya on August 30, 1962. Prior to joining ASA Mr. Saudi worked for Abu Dhabi Investment Company as Senior Manager in their Investment Division looking after their private equity, project finance, financial advisory and asset management areas. He was a member on their Credit and Investment Committee as well as Alternative Investment Committee.
Previously Mr. Saudi was the General Manager of Credoc S.L., a real estate investment company that owns a major real estate project and 18 hole golf course known as Santa Maria Golf & Country Club in Marbella, Spain. Presently, Mr. Saudi is a Board Member of Credoc. Prior, Mr. Saudi was one of the Founders and Co-Managing Director of Medvest Holdings in Cyprus, a private investment House focusing on emerging markets, private equity and investment banking activities. Prior to that Mr. Saudi worked at the London office of Kidder Peabody & Co., where he was responsible for Institutional Sales - Equity Division.
In addition to above he gained extensive experience in the fields of Equities, Capital Markets, Correspondent Banking, Foreign Exchange etc., while working with ABC International Limited, London, International Bank of Asia Limited, Hong Kong, Manufacturers Hanover Trust Co., USA and Saudi National Commercial Bank, Saudi Arabia.
Adel received a degree of BS in Business Administration from Pepperdine University, Malibu, California in April 1985.
